Stoned englishmen
Record loss.
When I was at high school in rural NSW in the 1970s, Geography was a core subject. I really only remember learning* about the sequential occupation of the Canterbury and Otago plains in NZ, and the Koppen system of climate classification. And I still find the latter very interesting (though I’m not so sure about anybody else). (Christchurch has an Oceanic climate).
*And a few other bits and pieces. I won’t pretend I wasn’t a girly swot.
| There once was an old man of Brock, Who intentionally put on a sock, For he said, “It is shocking To appear in a stocking, But now I’m a decent old cock.” |

The cliffs are red and raw.
Things are a bit messy but the old ‘keep calm and carry on’ philosophy is the order of the day. These pictures were taken very close to the epicentre of the 22nd Feb earthquake. (The leg in a cast isn’t an earthquake injury).
This is probably a familiar sight to the five or so people who look at my pictures regularly. This is the view to the south of my place and I always enjoy looking at it. But it has got a bit shabby around the edges lately (rather like the rest of us).

Cinders, Thomas (our visitor from Strasbourg) and I went down to Sumner this evening to see the sights and get some sea air.
UPDATE: The pictures above were taken on Monday 21st February. Cave Rock had a makeover the next day. The ‘new look’ is featured below.
This is St Michael’s (possibly Congregational — whatever that is) Church in Collins St, Melbourne. They are very proud of their non-traditional stained glass windows.
I went to Dunedin a while back. Possum and I quoted poetry to each other on the way down in the car. For all our differences we occupy very similar ground when it comes to anything literary. We are particularly fond of ‘The Highwayman’. And we quite like a rake too.
